The purple cloth ceiling

In the continued brouhaha about Papa Ratzi’s offer to disaffected soi-disant Anglicans my friend Dana Delap comments that:

allowing women through the purple cloth ceiling is important.

Perhaps this signals a new “back to the Bible” campaign with a degree of proof-texting and interpretation:

For this reason a woman ought to have a symbol of authority [viz: a pointy hat] on her head (1 Cor 11:10)

That mitre do it.
