Thanksgiving – from this side of the pond

Happy Thanksgiving to all my American readers.

I hope you realise how strange it looks from this side of the Atlantic. You get your President to pardon a turkey in thankful remembrance of killing Injuns.

Or something.

Ye olde worlde idea of harvest seems somewhat simplistic, I’m sure.

God save the Queen this merrye Magna Carta Day or something.

Here’s hoping that someday you can be out from under the tyrannical thumb of a Protestant monarch and have your own elected head of state.

Thanking God for providing Indians who could teach us how to cook turkey, maize, pumpkins, etc. We waited till later to kill them for their land. “We” being in 1620, subjects of King James, as English as it is possible to be, and behaving according to the norms of English moral culture we had been brought up in.
