… whenever I read things like this comment, left on George Pitcher’s Telegraph blog.

Personally in my opinion, the church was segrated from the state by the powers in govt,it contradicated all the values our politicans hold dearly, greed, self centerednesss, and ofcourse they represent the priveleged at the top,who values are the same.apart from that ,the country ismasses are uneducated and ignorant, they been deluded in the belief ,they part of the priveleged in society, anyway one just has to read our papers and watch our televisions, one can see the policy society has moulded, ignorance and without any christain values.and furthermore dont expect ,our media and broadcastings to voice anything contary ,to thier masters wishes, these are just devious mechanism we have in this country

If you can’t spell, string a sentence together, or make any consecutive thought cohere with its predecessor, why should you be able to vote? More to the point, why is it that anyone would think decision making by referenda was a remotely intelligent thing to do.

And yes, I know democracy is the least worst form of government, but sometimes I have to confess to an illicit and politically-incorrect longing for philosopher-kings and an elitist meritocracy – especially if they would be enlightened enough to listen to my advice.

Being Chinese, I confess to the same desires (although my dad’s less monarchist than I). =D

Otoh, ‘the country ismasses are uneducated and ignorant’ seems to indicate some strange irony. It seems too farcical to be true, especially with the changing of the genitive into is rather than a normal incorrect usage of the apostrophe.
