The banning of Benny Hinn

Caught by the UK’s Hinnigration laws. Since you can hardly call the selling of asking of donations in return for miracles a religious activity I guess he won’t be able to claim religious discrimination either. :twisted: I wonder how this one will turn out.

Does your church pass round a collection bag or in other ways solicit donations at religious gatherings? Hypocrite! Take the plank out of your own eye before complaining about others who do just the same.

The more serious side of this is that people from countries such as Canada who can visit the UK for a few months without a visa can no longer do so if they want to do charitable work. I don’t mind Benny Hinn not getting into the country, but we’ve had one person turned back at Heathrow because they would have been helping in our office for a week or two.

Unfortunately the immigration laws are a blunt instrument applied woodenly. For every case where they put a smile on my face, there are a great many about which I despair.

The London Mennonite Centre has had problems with this as well, as it regularly brings in volunteers from Canada and the US.

Don’t worry – a substitute snake oil salesman appeared in his place asking for donations of £1000 from each of the gullible souls present.
