A traditional Anglican? Questionable, to say the least.

The kerfuffle continues. Most of what I think is in this post. I also draw attention, above and beyond the link there, to (Anglican) Bishop Alan Wlison, and US Catholic site Commonweal.

I note, as this saga develops, that many (most) commentators and journalists assume that the self-proclaimed “Traditional Anglican Communion” is among the primary targets recipients of this ecumissile ecumenical gesture.

Intriguingly, and I am aware that it is not the most infallible source, Wikipedia says this about the Primate of the “Traditional” Anglican Communion, Archbishop John Hepworth.

Hepworth was ordained to the priesthood in the Roman Catholic Church for the Archdiocese of Adelaide.

In 1976 he was received into the Anglican Church of Australia.

Hepworth has been married twice.

Hmm … I can’t escape the hint of a suspicion that Benedict may have investigated this about as carefully as he investigated the history of Bishop Richard Williamson. I doubt he particularly wants to give succour to a twice married priest who has already been laicised by his predecessor.

They do know. I believe he’ll just go off quietly.
