Just when we thought there was hardly any more of David Tennant’s Who-defining Doctor still to come, the BBC announces a full on Doctor Who appearance in the Sarah Jane Adventures. Coming soon.

Yes, I’ve been looking forward to this one. It will help us to cope with the drought of new Who. Sarah Jane Adventures has been excellent, often feeling more like classic Who than new Who does. One of my favourite moments in the last series was in the Temptation of Sarah Jane when she sees a blue box back in the 1950s.

As for me, I am swinging back to Hartnell DVDs for late night viewing while awating the November American Who DVDs.

Sarah Jane Adventures is tempting, both because of its supposed closer resemblance to classic Who and the fact that Ms. Sladen is the only Who actor I’ve ever met. I did finally wash the hand she shook.

I can’t say I’ve completely warmed to New Who. In fact there are a number of episodes I’ve yet to watch.
