A fantastically moving and thought-provoking piece. Clair Lewis, a 36 year old woman with an incurable illness offers her reflections on the arguments for assisted suicide.
Someone came up to me recently when I was out in my wheelchair said “I’d kill myself, if I was like you”. (It wasn’t the first time. My response these days is “I pity you, coward”.)

As someone with a quadriplegic family member, I feel very strongly that these suicide programs are nothing more than a declaration of how lacking in value the lives of the disabled are.
my good friend spent a couple of months in walter reed, being released with an honorable discharge and minus his left leg, i feel the same way as you, it takes an incredibly weak person to actually spit those words out. i’m sorry not for you but him or her, the entire experience and my squads love for him has only drawn us together
